Tess "Thresher" Donaldson - 100 questions
Part 1: The Basics

What is your full name? - Tess Marie Donaldson

Where and when were you born? - Apparently, off the coast of South Carolina

Who are/were your parents? (Know their names, occupations, personalities, etc.) - My 'real' parents are Michael and Amber Donaldson. They adopted me when my blood father dropped me at their home, shortly after finding my mother giving birth to me. They raised and home schooled me for eighteen years, and I lived with them until I was almost twenty-one. They died of a nasty flu that passed through the area. Dad used to run a local lighthouse and mom worked as substitute teacher and taught my home school. As for my biological father, that would be Poseidon, god of the sea, earthquakes and not paying his child support, and my mother is apparently a mako shark. Yeah, now you see why I call my adopted parents my real ones. They were really sweet people, and they worked hard to give me as normal a life as you can have with gills, shark fangs and eyes as black as midnight.

Do you have any siblings? - My mom and dad didn't have any children before they adopted me. As for my philandering jackass of a father who can't seem to fuck normal people? Well, let's see. Tradition holds my half brothers to be Theseus, Neleus, Pelias, Nauplius, a horse named Arion that could talk, Triton, Polyphemus and, last but not least the giants Alebion, Bergion, Otos and Ephialtae. If I remember my myths right, of my half-brothers, Triton and Polyphemus might still be alive, and most of the rest were complete morons. Triton's probably still at daddy's beck and call, and Polyphemus is probably still blind and pissed off at the world on some god-forsaken island in the middle of nowhere. Maybe Arion's around. Who knows? Maybe I'm related to Mister Ed? Now, wouldn't that be some shit right there?

Where do you live now, and with whom? Describe the place and the person/people. - I moved up north from South Carolina when my dad's replacement arrived six months ago. I've been in a bunch of towns outside of Boston since then. I usually stay in a little hotel you can rent for a month and then move to the next one, getting day laborer jobs and playing bass guitar for tips at local clubs. The folks you meet in the places I go don't look at you too carefully, and they don't ask stupid questions, so all around it's a lonely, but quiet life. The whole hero thing's mostly been on the side since then, but it's getting harder to avoid.

What is your occupation? - Day laborer mostly, though... I guess you could call me a "Hero for hire" if you really want, even if that doesn't sound like a real job to me.

Write a full physical description of yourself. You might want to consider factors such as: height, weight, race, hair and eye color, style of dress, and any tattoos, scars, or distinguishing marks. - I'm about 4'10", 120 or so pounds. My body's a lot more muscled than you'd think for that height and weight but my skeleton's made of cartilage so I'm a lot lighter than humans. I'm pretty much wiry and lithe in build. My skin's really pale and feels like sandpaper or sharkskin, and is tough enough to take small arms fire pretty easily. I'm pretty flat chested, only an A cup, not that this really matters since boys never look at me. I've got aqua colored hair that gets a little sea-green in the highlights when the light hits it just right, and yes the "carpet matches the drapes." I don't smile much since I have shark's teeth, complete with a backup row that grows in as one falls out every month or so. My eyes are pitch black without whites, just like a sharks, and I have gills lining my neck on both sides. The gills work while underwater if I take a second to 'switch gears.' I can see in the dark perfectly fine. I usually dress in hooded jackets and sweatshirts most days, or with a high collar to hide the gills, usually with jeans and sneakers. I wear protective and tinted glasses no matter the time of day. If I'm going into the ocean, I switch out the normal clothes for a wet suit, and I wear that a lot of times if I have time to prep for 'hero time.'

To which social class do you belong? - I prefer the classification of "Itinerant blue collar worker." Most people would call that 'unemployed.'

Do you have any allergies, diseases, or other physical weaknesses? - No real weaknesses. I can breathe normally on land and water. I haven't gotten a cold … ever as far I can remember. I'm not allergic to anything. I am, however, a carnivore, and most of my diet is meat with only a little bit of rice and some other stuff to supplement it with ruffage. I like seafood.

Are you right- or left-handed? - Right handed.

What does your voice sound like? - Someone told me it sounded like sandpaper once. I bloodied his nose, but he's probably right.

What words and/or phrases do you use very frequently? - I don't talk much, as a rule, so I couldn't tell you if there's anything I use a lot. People tell me I swear a lot though. Fuck if I care.

What do you have in your pockets? - Lint, the receipt from a movie I rented last night and still need to return, about thirty six cents, the one ring and a lighter. What? Yes, of course I'm joking about the one ring. Jeeze.

Do you have any quirks, strange mannerisms, annoying habits, or other defining characteristics? - I don't like to talk to people, so I prefer to avoid them as a rule. I'm usually wearing sunglasses when nobody would think of doing it, since I can basically see in the dark anyway. I hear I pick at my jeans when I get nervous.

Part 2: Growing Up

How would you describe your childhood in general? - I grew up outside of McLellanville, South Carolina, where my dad used to keep up the old Cape Romain Lighthouse. It was sheltered, but it was also pleasant. Mom and dad were always kind to me, and some of the folks that lived closer to the lighthouse were more understanding than the ones in town. We didn't go to town much, but I played some games with the neighborhood kids. We figured out pretty quick that I was a lot stronger than them, so they avoided wrestling with me or anything like that. As long as Mrs Farmington's damned cat wasn't trying to claw my face off, everything was nice. There were a few awkward times, though, when my parents had to put me in a room in the basement and talk with some people. I figured out it was child services. See, I think they pulled some stunts to get me legal in the states, since my adoption wasn't what you'd call typical, but every once in a while a couple people came nosing around, poking for answers and they knew that those folks couldn't actually meet me, or there'd be trouble. It worked out ok, but we got lucky. My teenage years were the most awkward. No pimples, but you try dating when you can break a guy in half and the only folks in your neighborhood aren't into gills. Yeah, you got it, I'm still single. At least I got a driver's license without trouble, though I hate it when they tell me to smile. Annoying as hell to put patches on my neck for that so I could take the hood off, so I was not in a smiling mood... besides the shark teeth thing.

What is your earliest memory? - Playing on the beach just near the lighthouse at night. I loved night swimming when I was a kid. I think I was five then.

How much schooling have you had? - I'm home schooled, with a GED and an associates degree in business from the local community college. I took most of my classes in either big seminars, or online when I could. By the way, associates degrees are shit for getting jobs sometimes, especially in the current market, but I'm really kind of a bit too careful of my appearance, so I don't actually go looking that often.

Did you enjoy school? - Home shooling was great, but my mom was really strict about making sure I did my work. College was ok, but there's a lot of people and I don't like crowds. The only real advantage is that most folks didn't really want to get to know the pale girl in the hooded jacket glaring at them from the back of the room.

Where did you learn most of your skills and other abilities? - some of it I've known for years. I grew up with the whole strong and tough side of being not so human, the whole night vision and breathing underwater scthick too. The rest of it, the whole demigod child of Poseidon stuff, I started picking up that when I met my biological father.

While growing up, did you have any role models? If so, describe them. - My dad was my role model. There wasn't much in this world that ever made him scared, and he faced down a hurricane or two. He was always kind hearted and warm, and he did a good job of being a rock. I wish I was stable like that.

While growing up, how did you get along with the other members of your family? - Pretty much normal. It was a nice, loving house. Little bit of old school pagan, but I suppose that makes a certain amount of sense. We didn't have too many guests who didn't live right around there and know me from when I was really small. Mom and Dad really didn't have much of an extended family, and we never heard from them.

As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up? - A fisherman or on the coast guard. I wanted to be on the ocean. Go figure.

As a child, what were your favorite activities? - Swimming, drawing, playing guitar when I got a bit older, horsing around, normal kid stuff. I liked a lot more physical activities, but I had a few other less rough and tumble friends. I watched a lot of cartoons when I was really young and got into anime when I got older, visited a few conventions. Those are fun, since I didn't have to bother with hoods and glasses. People thought the look was makeup. Loved it. I used to go as Kisame from Naruto a couple times later on. It was an easyish look to pull off.

As a child, what kinds of personality traits did you display? - If I didn't know you, I didn't talk to you. That hasn't changed much. I liked tearing around the countryside since we were away from town, and having a few friends I actually spoke to helped a lot. The epidemic took a few of them, and the others moved away. I haven't heard from them since.

As a child, were you popular? Who were your friends, and what were they like? - Jim was probably my only long-standing friend. He was an asshole and a joker, and we used to go to the cons together. Michelle and Gary were an item, but they died from the epidemic. Most of the kids I hung around with were pretty much just normal idiots. We drifted apart as we got older, and especially when a bunch of people died in town. They liked to hike out in the countryside with me, and we used to watch cartoons together. I only ever had about four or five friends at a time, though. Now, if you're counting online idiots I sometimes keep in touch with who've met me "in costume," there's more of those, especially since Montreal '09. Bunch of pictures of me as Kisame then, but I'm not really THAT close to any of them. Sad thing about Jim was that he died in a car wreck about a month after I skipped town. Drunk driver plowed into him. I really don't have much in South Carolina calling me back.

When and with whom was your first kiss? - Now, you tell me. Who do you think wants to kiss these lips? See those shark teeth? I lose one of them every month or two, and they could saw through someone's lip easy as pie. Yeah, there's been no first kisses. Not even at the cons, because slobbering drunken geeks are not nearly as sexy as they think they are.

Are you a virgin? If not, when and with whom did you lose your virginity? - Still a virgin, and I'm betting that's going to stay that way for a while. Maybe forever. Fuck Poseidon if he's expecting grandkids.

If you are a supernatural being (i.e. mage, werewolf, vampire), tell the story of how you became what you are or first learned of your own abilities. If you are just a normal human, describe any influences in your past that led you to do the things you do today. - I first learned I was special when I asked my mommy why I had these funny fin things on my neck and she didn't. I figured out I could stay underwater and breathe there that afternoon. I learned I was strong enough to hurt someone when I accidentally broke Jim's nose. He never completely forgave me for that.

Part 3: Past Influences

What do you consider the most important event of your life so far? - My shit eating biological father showing up while I was still grieving my parents and friends' deaths? Yeah, that'd probably be the most significant occurrence, though not my favorite memory.

Who has had the most influence on you? - Mom and Dad, hands down.

What do you consider your greatest achievement? - I'd say that'd be my associate's degree. I'm not dumb, but I'm also not exactly the sort of person you'd expect to see actually going to college, so I'm pretty proud of that.

What is your greatest regret? - I really wish I could have helped my parents, honestly.

What is the most evil thing you have ever done? - Scaring the crap out of Mrs Farmington's cat. Trust me, I've lived a pretty wholesome life by the standards of a shark girl out of South Carolina.

Do you have a criminal record of any kind? - nope.

When was the time you were the most frightened? - When I knew I was going to be alone. Being completely alone's a scary thought.

What is the most embarrassing thing ever to happen to you? - It involved a pissed off Rurouni Kenshin fan brandishing a shinai and some cheap vodka in Montreal. That's as far as I'm going to tell you about it.

If you could change one thing from your past, what would it be, and why? - I'd rather have been born a normal human.

What is your best memory? - Yule festivals with my family. Those were always warm and happy times.

What is your worst memory? - Meeting my biological scumbag of a father. The man has shitty timing and the responsibility of a randy newt.

Part 4: Beliefs And Opinions

Are you basically optimistic or pessimistic? - Pessimistic. I've seen too much of what people are capable of.

What is your greatest fear? - I think I'm most afraid of getting less human. I know I'm not human to begin with, but the idea of turning into one of those mythological monsters terrifies me.

What are your religious views? - I was raised a pagan in a pretty broad neopagan home with some greco-roman reconstructionalist thoughts. I guess I still am pagan, being Poseidon's long lost brat and what not, but most of them can kiss my ass right now. I'll think about them when I don't have a choice.

What are your political views? - That they're all a bunch of fat pigs out for their own gain.

What are your views on sex? - I mean... I always assumed people want to get laid when they get married or with the right person, but it's hard to even care about that. I tried to be interested when I was younger, but ... eh, whatever.

Are you able to kill? Under what circumstances do you find killing to be acceptable or unacceptable? - I am definitely able to kill. Hell, I'm actually probably pretty good at it. I've taken down a couple of my mother's distant cousins when they came at me in my teenage years. Personally, though, I'd rather not do that unless something's attacking me, or there's other peoples' lives in danger.

In your opinion, what is the most evil thing any human being could do? - Child Abuse

Do you believe in the existence of soul mates and/or true love? - Fairy Tale, but a nice one.

What do you believe makes a successful life? - Helping Others.

How honest are you about your thoughts and feelings (i.e. do you hide your true self from others, and in what way)? - I don't let folks in easily, but if I do, I'm pretty honest with them.

Do you have any biases or prejudices? - I don't trust or like most people in general, but that's pretty much across the board, so I'm not so much prejudiced as I am stand-offish and misanthropic.

Is there anything you absolutely refuse to do under any circumstances? Why do you refuse to do it? - A fairly large number of things, actually. If you could attach "Horrific" or "Monstrous" onto it, I probably won't do it. I'm also not too big on gambling, as it's a complete waste of time and money, and I don't want to do drugs, because if they managed to work think of the damage I could do. I only ever drink rarely as is.

Who or what, if anything, would you die for (or otherwise go to extremes for)? - I don't know. Ask me when I find out. I'm sure there's someone.

Part 5: Relationships With Others

In general, how do you treat others (politely, rudely, by keeping them at a distance, etc.)? Does your treatment of them change depending on how well you know them, and if so, how? - If I don't know them, rude and quiet. If I know them and like them, I can be pretty warm and conversational, especially if I know my looks don't put them out. If they're an ass, I just don't talk to them.

Who is the most important person in your life, and why? - Nobody. They're dead, and I'm not doing the whole "Go into hell to get them back" thing. That's just selfish.

Who is the person you respect the most, and why? - My dad, and no I don't mean my biological asshole of a father.

Who are your friends? Do you have a best friend? Describe these people. - Right now, I pretty much don't have any friends. I've only been staying a month or so in each place, so I'm pretty much a loner.

Do you have a spouse or significant other? If so, describe this person. - No, and I know this is 100 Questions, but could you STOP asking me? Why does everyone keep asking? It's kind of annoying.

Have you ever been in love? If so, describe what happened. - We're really doing this? No. Jim and I tried, briefly, when we were young but we never got past holding hands and we weren't really into each other.

What do you look for in a potential lover? - I don't. Since we're just going to keep asking, let's be clear. I don't get hot and bothered by people. I don't even know what it's like. Flirting goes right over my head. I don't think about sex. This set of questions? It's the most I've thought about the subject in, what, three years? I'm not looking for a lover.

If you twist my arm and ask me "What kind of person would you want to spend the rest of your life with?" I guess maybe a guy who can physically keep up with me and who doesn't care that I'm not even remotely interested in bumping uglies, but even then? I don't know. This isn't actually something I think about.

I do not GET the fascination people have with this.

How close are you to your family? - They're dead. We've covered this.

Have you started your own family? If so, describe them. If not, do you want to? Why or why not? - No, and I'm not sure I like the idea of giving birth to a half human, quarter god, quarter shark. What would the kids look like?

Who would you turn to if you were in desperate need of help? - If I really needed it, and thought I could get away with it, I 'might' contact my biological father, but right now there isn't much of a safety net.

Do you trust anyone to protect you? Who, and why? - No. Because they don't, and haven't and probably won't.

If you died or went missing, who would miss you? - Right now? Probably a couple obsessive fanboys online.

Who is the person you despise the most, and why? - My asshole biological father. In case you haven't noticed, I didn't take too kindly to finding out that I wasn't human, that he deposited me with people like I was a burden, and only came back because there were dire times ahead and I needed to be ready to fight. I would have done that without him. His showing up right then and shoving it down my throat like it was my responsibility because he spawned me from some shark that caught his attention, right after my parents died, wasn't just presumptuous and rude, it was just outright bullshit. It was almost like he felt I owed him something because I was a demigod and that I should be grateful to him that he had come to me then. The only good choice he made was giving me to my real parents, since Lord of Earthquakes wasn't up to the whole parenting thing.

Do you tend to argue with people, or avoid conflict? - Avoid conflict.

Do you tend to take on leadership roles in social situations? - Hell the fuck no.

Do you like interacting with large groups of people? Why or why not? - Hell the fuck no, and I'm not even going to dignify the why with an answer. It should be pretty obvious.

Do you care what others think of you? - A little. I don't like being stared at or hated because I'm different.

Part 6: Likes And Dislikes

What is/are your favorite hobbies and pastimes? - Cosplay's great because I almost feel normal. Hiking and swimming out in the wild's fun, and I enjoy fishing. Guitar's also kind of a passtime of mine, and lets me get the rage out constructively.

What is your most treasured possession? - I don't have one. I suppose I'm supposed to think of this string of shark's teeth from my mom as prized, but there really isn't anything. I couldn't carry mementos from home with me too much, though I wish I could have sometimes.

What is your favorite color? - Blue

What is your favorite food? - Tuna

What, if anything, do you like to read? - stories with action in them

What is your idea of good entertainment (consider music, movies, art, etc.)? - Action flicks for the most part, cartoon or regular movies.

Do you smoke, drink, or use drugs? If so, why? Do you want to quit? - I drink a little, but not often. I don't like the idea of losing control.

How do you spend a typical Saturday night? - Either at a club playing guitar or at home blogging until I go to sleep.

What makes you laugh? - not much. Stupidity usually.

What, if anything, shocks or offends you? - Intolerance, racism, hate crimes, child abuse.

What would you do if you had insomnia and had to find something to do to amuse yourself? - Blog.

How do you deal with stress? - Play guitar or go swimming usually.

Are you spontaneous, or do you always need to have a plan? - I'm pretty spontaneous. Life's a lot easier that way.

What are your pet peeves? - People. Especially loud and noisy ones. It's sort of a surprise I like cons at all.

Part 7: Self Images And Etc.

Describe the routine of a normal day for you. How do you feel when this routine is disrupted? - On a typical day, I get up early, since I only ever really get three or four hours of sleep most days and operate normally. I brush up, get dressed and put on a hooded jacket to cover my gills. I hop over to one of the day worker corners I know isn't going to be too picky. I nod to the ones already there, wait and get work breaking rocks and in construction stuff. A high coller and closed mouth covers the bases of not getting noticed, and I do an eight hour shift. I come back home, shower and either hit the clubs or blog and watch tv, go to bed, rinse and repeat. And, sometimes on weekends, I fight horrific monsters from the lower pits of hell that are intent on destroying the world and ruining my breakfast.

What is your greatest strength as a person? - Adaptability.

What is your greatest weakness? - Distrust

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be? - I'd be human.

Are you generally introverted or extroverted? - Introverted.

Are you generally organized or messy? - Messy.

Name three things you consider yourself to be very good at, and three things you consider yourself to be very bad at. - I'm really good at the guitar, managing limited finances and not getting noticed. (I bet you thought I'd say I kick ass and take names. I don't let the whole hero thing define myself, people) I'm really not as good at making friends, staying in one place or respecting people in authority.

Do you like yourself? - Not really, but I'm ok with myself.

What are your reasons for being an adventurer (or doing the strange and heroic things that RPG characters do)? Are your real reasons for doing this different than the ones you tell people in public? (If so, detail both sets of reasons...) - Shit happens, and someone has to clean it up or people get hurt, so might as well be me. That's pretty much what I tell people.

What goal do you most want to accomplish in your lifetime? - I. Want. to. Kick. my. Biological. Father's. Ass.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years? - I have no clue.

If you could choose, how would you want to die? - I... haven't given this any thought, actually. I'm not sure.

If you knew you were going to die in 24 hours, name three things you would do in the time you had left. - Eat a steak, rare. Go swimming in the ocean. Have a shot of vodka on my way out the door.

What is the one thing for which you would most like to be remembered after your death? - I'd like to be remembered as a good person.

What three words best describe your personality? - Self-sufficient, iron willed, cynical.

What three words would others probably use to describe you? - Creepy, loner, bitch.

If you could, what advice would you, the player, give to your character? (You might even want to speak as if he or she were sitting right here in front of you, and use proper tone so he or she might heed your advice...) - "be careful, but more open. There are people who you can trust out there. Never lose hope, and forgive your father. We're entitled to being assholes sometimes, and he can still make up for it with time."

What is the Deviant Universe Canon?
-The Deviant Universe is a collaborative art and super-hero themed storytelling project initiated in February of 2011 to August 2019 on Deviantart by mja42x on that site. The project operated through monthly storyline or fan-art challenges for member artists to participate in, along with a "Major Summer Event" every year which entailed key crossovers of every artist's casts against what was usually a global threat or unique event.

The events transpiring entailed a large number of artists, and featured a revolving cast on a super-hero team known as the "Thunder Force," analogues to similar global super-hero teams in comics. While not directly drawn from Marvel, DC, Image or small press sources, many characters were inspired by the love of these comic-book characters.

The events of 2011 and Psi-Void's first assault on Earth in the first Summer Crossover lead eventually to one last confrontation with Psi-void in the events of "World's End" in 2019's Summer Crossover, a final peace for Earth that would last for years and the subsequent dissolution of the Thunder Force and close of the primary Deviant Universe project (Though monthly challenges would continue until 2020 along with "What If" scenarios for the setting post the artist's involvement.).

IC Information
Right, so what is the Deviant Universe?
-“The Deviant Universe” is a classical Golden Age/Silver Age cusp superhero universe set in a variant Earth. Its history is related to and similar to that of the real world, though it shifts at the close of World War II. Deviants, the common term for superheroes and villains, have been present for thousands of years, but have not been as visible until the second half of the twentieth century. The public prominence of a few key figures during World War II and the events of the Sovereign War in the 1960s (the first of two alien invasion attempts on the planet) have made them a much more obvious and well-known factor in society. The first decade of the 21st century has seen an upswing in negative sentiment towards Deviants due to several high profile cases of villainous aspirations threatening humanity on a global scale. These high profile incidents, notably the Freedom War and the Rise of Omega, came swiftly on the heels of one another and led to an outpouring of concern by normal humans about the need for controls to be placed on Deviant activity. In 2013, Tensions remain at a near breaking point, and at the instant of Thresher's arrival in the Carvaka setting, this has led to the culmination of the Omega Rising crisis with the use of a doomsday weapon to ensure the demigod's death. The aftershocks of this event, known collectively as “The Genocide Wave” have left a damaged and half-ruined world bereft of its heroes, all people with superhuman powers having disappeared from the world, lost in time and space for three months before part of them return to find humanity less than pleased to have them back, fearful that the wars between hero and villain will resume.

Historically, one of the major shifts of the Deviant Universe is the relative lack of a Cold War in the 1950s. The Sovereign War largely shattered the back of any Communist-Capitalist conflict shortly after the Korean War, leading to a perceived need to unite humanity against the outside threat of the Sovereign race. After success, though some conflict remained, it never was greater than small-scale wars that were not used by larger global superpowers as staging grounds for their conflicts. It has led to the latter half of the 20th century being a time of peace and prosperity for humanity, with advancements in technology building in particular in computing, communication and robotics in some sectors, along with a limited control over pollutants and construction efficiency leading to a lower stress on the global environment.

Deviants represent roughly .001% of the global population at most, and the Earth's population is approximately 4 billion in number, the catastrophes of Omega's Rise and the Sovereign War being devastating to the human species in particular. Rebuilding efforts have been underway after the Rise of Omega in the last two years, but humanity still reels. Most individual national and cultural identities that predate World War II continue to exist, and only a rare Deviant ever involves themselves in the political process directly, so the nations that one sees on the map are generally present and reflect a post-Berlin War collapse environment, though without quite as much animosity between former Soviet satellite states. Deviant activity tends to be relegated, due to practical realities, to the outskirts of major metropolitan areas. While humanity is aware of alien species and has encountered two separate invading forces (Psi-Void and the Sovereign Race), they have only sporadic contact and most alien species maintain diplomatic enclaves on New Zealand, frequently as refugees.

The source of “Deviation” varies heavily. Some are born with genetic mutations that cause a person to display superhuman capacities or unusual properties. Others are the result of super-science at work in secret laboratories. A few rare individuals are either of extraterrestrial origin or show powers derived from magic or the influence of various old pagan gods who still influence the world around them. The variety of their capacities, natures and personalities can vary extensively, as much as the choices that they make with those powers.

Main Story Arcs of the Deviant Universe
-2011: "The Rebirth of the Thunder Force and the Threat of Psi-Void"
-An Agent Possessed: During the spring of 2011, well known government agent, 42X, was captured by the Shadow Society, brainwashed and sent to assassinate the President of the United States. Ultimately, after an effort of multiple Deviants working in congress, he was captured by the famed "Mythic," and brought in for detoxification. This incident drew Deviants once more into the public eye.
-Maximum Destruction: The second attempted interstellar invasion of Earth was conducted during the summer of 2011 by the galactic overlord Psi-Void. Earth, having been assaulted decades prior by one of Psi-Void's rival entities, the Sovereign, was now a potential source of additional resources for his dying race. Desiring to convert the planet to one more hospitable to his people and enslave its population, he first sent his robotic Cy-Droids to capture what he presumed were the greatest threat, superhuman deviants. The effort backfired, as heroes and villains teamed up once on board his orbiting space platform and attacked. In the conflagration, Psi-Void was apparently killed (The energy being instead possessing and taking over the body of his lieutenant Zaggot) and the world-renowned hero Great Man perished aiding in his defeat. The possessed Zaggot pronounced peace with earth and departed, licking his wounds and plotting elaborate revenge.
-Reformation of the Thunder Force: In the aftermath of Psi-Void's attack, the United Nations acted on the prompting and funding of the US and security council, establishing a global defense force of Deviants known as the Thunder Force. This force, comprised of an active body led by Agent 42X and with auxiliaries around the globe, was intended to be a public defender unit under government oversight without official national allegiance and represent the best and brightest of humanity. It's original founding members were Wildman, Agent 42X, Cross, Pixel, Vicky Velocity, Fisticuff, Wireless, and the Empty Suit.

Although not widely spoken about, this Thunder Force was, in fact, the second iteration of the original team, once led by the hero known as Vektor, now living out his earthly life in his civilian guise: American President Robert Hatfield.

-2012: "The Freedom War and Rise of the Dark Legion"
-Rise of the Dark Legion: Even as the Thunder Force met its early challenges, incarcerating various would-be super villains, their number ultimately met the challenge with a team of its own. Loosely organized and led initially by an enigmatic agent known as "The Hive," the Dark Legion broke several key antagonists out of prison and disappeared into the woodwork, inserting agents into the US-based RAPTOR organization and the ancillary bureaucracy of the Thunder Force, attempting to bring them down from within or corrupt them towards their own ends.
-The Freedom War: During the Summer of 2012, heroes and villains around the globe were plagued by a vision of a world, corrupted and destroyed as the heroic computer program given life and a body of electrical current Pixel was turned against humanity and Deviants. That world, known to some as 'the Pixelocalypse' was a potential version of their world, one that they had a chance to try and stop from happening. In the wake of the vision, Pixel's programming was briefly corrupted and he went rogue, killing countless civilians in a small, sleepy American town. While heroes sought to capture copies of his programming running amok, RAPTOR mobilized and demanded that Deviants around the world be registered under their banner. The movement, spearheaded by the Hive, posing as RAPTOR Supervisor Lloyd, caused a rift in the superhuman community between the Freedom Force (those who actively opposed registration) and the Thunder Force (who were enlisted to aid RAPTOR). The confrontation became a hotbed of controversy when the world-traveling hero Vigil emerged to warn that the results of the conflict imperiled everyone and that RAPTOR needed to be stopped to avoid the apocalypse seen earlier that summer. Banding together, the two forces confronted each other once and for all, the Hive's plot being revealed in the midst of the battle. Pixel, enraged at being manipulated by the Hive, slew him in cold blood and turned himself over for guardianship until it could be certain he was safe once more. Though the conflict ended, much of the public's confidence in the Thunder Force was shattered, and its membership shifted heavily to reflect changes in idealogy.

Current Thunder Force Roster: The Mighty American (Leader), Wildman, Cross, Miss July, Tsunami, Arrow-Kill, Animal Boy and Thunderhead.
-Otherworld: Though RAPTOR had been disparaged, its principle head Christina Rogers made every effort to maintain a clean ship. During this time, a plea came from another reality still, verifying that many alternate futures existed. This world, dubbed "Otherworld," was plagued by villains and in need of some help, any help. Heroes banded together from around the globe to travel together and face the villainous Deathwatch organization. Vigil, once again, interfered, this time warning that too much intervention (or any at all) could destabilize both realities and forcing the heroes to return prematurely. Though Deathwatch was not fully defeated, it had suffered a great blow and the Free States of America had the hope for a future return of peace.

-2013: "Omega Rising"
The barrier of an ancient dimensional prison known as the Abyss is opened through the manipulations of a super-villain named Syndrome with the assistance of several dupes, promised unlimited power in return for opening this prison for him. When opened, it revealed an entry into one of two extra-planar regions commonly referred to as "Hell" by numerous world religions. The being released from bondage was known as Omega, an entity billions of years in age who had the capacity to augment the powers of others who served him. He set upon the Earth to renew his efforts to dominate all life, forcing the collective power of the world's mightiest to face down first his augmented agents and ultimately himself.

While Omega himself was defeated and forced to lick his wounds in Hell once more, a cult remained on Earth, venerating and drawing power from him, forever threatening the well being of all sentient life. On several occasions, Thresher would clash alongside other empowered heroes against these agents, whose exploits frequently did not draw the attention of such organizations as the Thunder Force.

In the aftermath of the Omega Incident, civilization would spend considerable time recovering. Nation-state integrity was badly damaged in many cases and, while a world government was not established, the United Nations and peacekeeping forces like the Thunder Force increasingly came to be relied upon to address potential global threats. Augmented plantlife was found that appeared to be increasing the presence of so-called Deviants on Earth. As various peacekeeping forces sought to bring down freshly augmented heroes, believing it to be another plot of Omega's cult, they were faced with people berserk and drunk on new power.

The need to rebuild peace and stability on Earth called for a renewed recruitment for the Thunder Force. This recruitment drive would see a rise of Three teams in the Thunder Force's Roster. Though this plan would work for a time, the roster would change several times over the course of the years as global needs shifted. At no point did Thresher ever take an interest in joining or applying to the Thunder Force. While willing to aid others, she had no interest in being visible at the forefront of international conflicts, and left that to the "Big Leaguers."

-2014-2015: "Heroes United," "The Cult of Omega" and "The Genocide Wave"
While the Thunder Force convened, the collective forces of three super-villainous organizations would remain persistent thorns in the side of efforts to recover from the aftermath of Omega's escape. The Cult of Omega, the galactic overlord Psi-Void's return and the criminal organization ARES and its allies in the Dark Legion each sought out their own efforts to conquer the world, to subjugate a reeling human populace while they endeavored to rebuild. Despite the advances and assistance of deviants/meta-humans throughout the planet, these dangers posed a constant risk for the people of Earth.

The Cult of Omega, in particular to the story of Thresher, sought to find fellow empowered individuals and bring them to locations where Omega's influence could still be felt, where they could be indoctrinated and empowered. They sought vengeance against the people who had brought their lord and master low and waged a campaign of terror and murder that required regular purges. Always in the background of the organization were those meta-humans who were complicit, empowered and bolstered by Omega. Some of the lesser gods of Olympus were temporarily swayed by the deceptive powers, including Poseidon's own nereid wife and Pan, who yearned for vengeance for an ancient slight by Apollo. Agents of the Cult of Omega like these rarely remained long with the organization, its constant internal bickering and the demands of Omega himself being too much for them, and most sought some level of penance after they were brought down and came to their senses.

The god of wine, Dionysus, for his part promoted the activities of the Cult for his own personal amusement. Not only the god of wine, he was also the god of madness and he saw the insanity that they bred in their wake as intensely entertaining. He ever refused Omega's gifts, but he was all too willing to seduce agents and foils to join their order for the benefits, and perfectly happy to throw them at Thresher just to watch her writhe and vent her rage, always remaining just plausibly deniable enough that she could never truly lash out at he or Pan more than a little.

As all of these battles were waged, reality buckled. Dimensional prisons had been opened. Psi-Void sought power of maddening heights, regardless of the cost. Strange and horrific entities vied to release their ancient masters. It was too much of a strain on reality, and those who presided over that existence became increasingly unable to maintain the stability of their metaverse. As the strings of reality frayed, waves of energy raced across the earth on an annual basis. Dubbed "The Genocide Wave," these energies caused people to disappear in the fall of every year, and were seen as a sign of great instability in existence, a sign of an illness that threatened existence itself.

-2016-2017: "Otherworld" & "Nexus Sigma"
The fraying of reality hit a fever pitch as portals began to open up to alternate versions of reality. Threats from these alternate Earths started to make appearances in Tess's reality, but the worst of the lot was a reality known to the people of her timeline as "Otherworld." Dominated by super-powered villains who maintained a global syndicate known as Deathwatch, they initially clashed in prior years with the heroes of the primary timeline, only to enter Tess's world in an effort to conquer and claim multiple alternate realities, led by the insane manipulator of time and space, from whom her organization took its name.

Deathwatch's rage would ultimately be brought low by countless heroes, but the losses on both sides of the conflict were significant. The Thunder Force underwent restructuring due to losses and betrayals in its own ranks, a splinter faction breaking off over accusations of corruption and collusion in the ranks and sparking an ongoing conflict that threatened to divert their resources at a critical time, hunting after former teammates. The world needed heroes, and in this moment they were faced with a reality that was threatening to come apart at the seams.

The Genocide Wave of 2017 was phenomenally larger than any previously recorded. Countless people were simply warped away from reality into other worlds as the entity that maintained the balance of realities, Sigma, showed signs of being frayed and weakened. Normally a nigh omnipotent power, capable of keeping multiple threads and strings of causality under control, she was weakened enough in the midst of this that the shockwaves dragged whole hordes of heros into strange and surreal versions of their reality at its very fringes before they managed to fight their way back, to rescue her from a relatively minor villain, Cape Caro, who managed to briefly supplant her power. Though he was ultimately defeated and her power restored, not all of the heroes immediately returned to their Earth, and the obvious weakness of the fabric of existence was plain for all to see, allowing the true power-houses among villains to eye Sigma's power with envy and greed.

Meanwhile, Tess herself was lost, awash in the genocide wave, drawn to far-flung worlds and unsure of where she would land...
